An organized workspace is an efficient one. And although that idea seems simple enough, there are many workshops throughout the world that are unorganized with equipment and supplies in disarray. Whether it is tools, materials or personal items, there is always a solution to keep everything in its place and organizing it to next level . But what about the rest of the workshop? Shouldn’t everything be kept organized if the workshop is to remain effective?
If organization is key to an effective and efficient workshop, then Toyota is the locksmith. They created a system of five principles known as the “5 S’s” which was designed to be used by any organization to keep their workspace cleaner and more organized.
Let’s take a look at the 5 S’s and learn more about how you can have a well organized workshop that is more productive.
Anything that is not needed in the workspace should be either removed or stored in shelving units, lockers or specialized bins.
Everything that is needed in the work area should have a designated spot and all employees should be aware of this. Having equipment and supplies assigned to specific shelves or containers is important to workspace efficiency.
The workspace is kept clean and looking new. This includes touching up paint regularly, polishing metal tables, racks and other surfaces and replacing equipment that is broken.
Standardizing procedures such as housekeeping and preventive maintenance will also ensure the workspace looks new and operates effectively.
This step requires employees to ensure that the procedures are followed keeping the workspace clean, organized and functional.
If you are going to commit to the Five S’s principles. You will need to ensure you have adequate storage solutions for your materials, products and equipment. Contacting a storage solution company that carries a wide range of products. It is capable to help businesses stay organized and promotes organizing better is the first step.

Here are the important things that need to be considered when it comes to setting up your Tire warehouse and takes full advantage of your building.
If you are storing bulk quantities of tires, you should always consider maximizing your warehouse by having your tire rack back to back. This will help you get the most out of your building. When the rack is empty, fold it, take it off the way and grab your tires from the one in the back or beside.
The aisles have to be at least 10 to 12 feet to allow the lift truck to circulate easily everywhere in the warehouse.
It should be big enough to help you prepare your orders and also store the empty tire stacking rack. We always try to keep at least 25 to 30 feet deep if possible. This is the key to save time on loading and unloading your trailers or containers.
Try to avoid wasting too much floor space for these small quantities of tires. Make the aisles smaller: 4-5 feet is good. It will be easier for picking and also get access to more tires at the same time. Order pickers lift trucks are the best lift tire stacking rack for these operations.
Before setting up the warehouse always contact the city and fire department to see if there are any restrictions or modifications that need to be done before moving on with your tire storage project; the height of the racks, sprinklers and many more. Nobody likes to be restricted to 25% of the storage capacity after signing a 5 years leasing contract so don’t forget to check prior to buying a storage system.
Huameilong is always here to help you with your projects. As a tire rack manufacture for years, we offer full layout consulting based on our great experiences and knowledge. If you have any questions buying a tire rack, do not hesitate to call us at +86-411-836-159-95 or email us at sales@hmlpak.com, we will be more than happy to help… for FREE!
Pallet rack, by its nature, automatically consists of at least two main components: upright frames and cross beams. Upright frames act as vertical support, while crossbeams support loads placed on the racking and help stabilize the system. But, if you’re planning to place loads on your pallet rack, and we’re guessing you are, there’s a good chance you’ll want to place some type of wire mesh decking on your cross beams. The two beams are strong, but they don’t provide much surface area on which to place loads, or room for error for that matter.
There are a number of types of decking one can install on their pallet rack system, but we recommend wire mesh decking, widely recognized as the industry standard. One can use wood and other alternative shelving, but we have a blog article here dedicated to why this isn’t the best idea. We’ve put together a brief, straightforward outline of the steps involved in ordering wire mesh decking.
Fortunately for those in the market to purchase wire decking, it’s a pretty easy process.
Wire decking is supported by “channels,” and these channels are available in two styles: U Channel and Flare Channel. The type of channel you need will depend on the type of pallet rack beam the decking will sit on.
You’ll want to measure the length of your pallet rack cross beam.
In order to figure out the correct dimensions for your wire decking, you’ll need to measure the depth of your uprights. This is done by measure from the outside of one end of the upright to the outside of the other end of the same upright.
The next measurement to take will be the width of the top of your pallet rack cross beam. There is no standard width for the top of a pallet rack cross beam. It is crucial to collect an accurate measurement.
After measuring the width of the top of your beam, you’ll want to measure the depth of the beam step, i.e. the depth from the top of the beam at which the beam becomes wider.
Calculate the maximum capacity you’re going to need per pallet position. This step is fairly self-explanatory, and the figure you calculate will depend directly on what you plan to store on the rack.
Determine the manufacturer of the pallet rack you’re going to be using the mesh decking with. This can usually be done by looking for a logo or name imprint on the rack system. It can also be done using a google search or a pallet rack guide.
If available, locate all part numbers on your particular rack system.
Finally, before ordering, you’ll want to figure out how many mesh decking you’re going to need. There is generally one mesh decking per pallet position.
Hopefully, this article has lessened your confusion and not made it worse. Wire mesh decking is to pallet racking what belts are to pants; their importance as an accessory is often ignored, and the important job they do taken for granted. Even though wire decking makes pallet racking easier to use and more versatile as a storage tool, many customers are still a little murky about what exactly wire mesh decking is, why it’s useful, and exactly which kind they need. Many of the people we speak with aren’t sure what to call it (Wire mesh? Metal grates? Steel decks? Things that sit on top?) and aren’t sure what we mean when we ask whether they need U channel or flare channel decks (“What’s the difference?”).
To help prevent you from joining in the confusion, we’re here to explain the differences between U-channel decks and flare channel decks. Who needs which kind, and why it’s important to have the right support channel to fit your pallet rack beams.
The support channel is the backbone of the wire decking and, as the name suggests, provides most of the load support. Support channels sit below the actual wire mesh platform, and the number of them on any one deck is usually determined by the width of the deck. Decks that are wider will have more support channels, and vice versa. If the decks are being used for a particularly heavy-duty application, a custom number of support channels can be requested by the customer to provide additional strength.
Wire decks with either three or four support channels are the most common, but decks with as few as two and as many as five channels are still widely available. The number of channels on a wire deck isn’t the only thing you’ll need to know about support channels before ordering, however. You’ll also want to know which type of channel you’re going to need for your warehouse operation.
There are two primary types of support channels: U-channel and Flare-channel.
As you can guess, U-channels were given their name due to their resemblance to the letter U. If one were to look at a U-channel deck head on, the cross section would bear a strong resemblance to the letter from which it gets its name. The U-channel is a single, unchanging piece of steel.
Flare channels, unlike U-channels, “flare” out at the both ends. Allowing them to wrap over the top of pallet rack beams. While this gives flare channels a universal fit, it also decreases the overall weight capacity of the mesh decks.
The type of wire mesh panels that best suits your pallet racking. It is dependent upon the type of beams the decks will be used with.
The most common type of beam is the standard step beam, which has a 1 5/8” deep indent on the inside beam face, referred to as the beam “step”. When standard step beams are being used, U-channel decks are usually recommended, as the ends of the U-shaped support channel fit snugly on the beam step. Utilizing a U-channel deck allows the user to take advantage of the extra weight capacity provided by the U channel.
Another type of beam is the 7/8” step, or “bulk step” beam. These beams are similar to standard step beams. It features a step that’s only 7/8” deep instead of the standard 1 5/8”. Users with 7/8” step beams have a couple of options: if available. They may choose to use 7/8” step U-channel decks, which are simply U-channel decks made for 7/8” step beams. If 7/8” step decks are not available, they’ll want to use flare channel decks. Least common but still prevalent is the box beam. Box beams have no step, but instead have four flat sides. Since there’s no step for a U channel to sit on, box beams require the use of flare channel decks.
All in all, the wire decking information required for most customers is fairly simple. U-channel decks are capable with step beams. Flare channel decks “flare” over the top of beams and fit any type of beam. Custom decks are built more specific capacity and measurement requirements is needed. However, for most applications, the type of beam, beam dimensions and the amount of weight. These are the primary pieces of information that is needed at the time of quotation.

Huameilong wire mesh containers are a superior option when compared to other traditional alternatives, such as cardboard boxes, bags and plastic bins. The lightweight but strong material, mild steel Q235, creates an ideal low weight-to-load ratio, meaning you can move more stock with less wire containers. Thanks to the spacing of the mesh design, contents are clearly visible — even when stacked three and four containers high — making it easy to see what is stored inside.
Mesh containers assemble in under a minute by following a few simple steps. Breakdown is just as quick, as the collapsible containers fold down for economical storage and transportation.
Half drop down gates positioned on the side of the container allow for direct access to inventory — without additional lifting and rearranging. Gates lock in place to eliminate safety hazards and product breakage cause by unintended openings of containers.

Galvanizing is an important process that keeps the containers free from rusting and corrosion. Hence, it is extremely important for a warehouse owner to buy a roller containers which is galvanized properly.
Rolling containers are widely used by different industries. These have helped industries to do their logistic management at a faster pace. Leading manufacturers have introduced the option of both hot-galvanized roll containers and cold-galvanized rolling containers.
Hence, many owners find it difficult to choose between the one. So, here we will know briefly about the galvanization process and their dominance on the container quality which will help you in making a fair decision between the two. Let us have a look:
Galvanization is a process where the metal overlays with a zinc layer. It helps the metal surface avoid from rusts and minor damages. Warehouse roller containers if getting rusted can cause damage to the goods stored inside degrading its quality.
Hence, it is important to choose a properly galvanized containers. Talking about the process of galvanizing it is broad of two types:
Hot Galvanizing
Cold Galvanizing
As the name suggests in the hot galvanizing process the metal. Varnished with zinc layer at high temperatures if around 500 C. This makes the zinc layer make a tight bond with the metal surface.
The metal contains with a thick layer of zinc which is free from corrosion and rusting. Hot galvanizing tends to protect the metal surface for about 8 years.
In this process instead of creating a zinc coating at high temperatures. It is the process of electrolysis that coats the metal with a thin layer of zinc. The outer surface becomes bright and shiny.
But in comparison to hot galvanizing, the thin coating here protects the metal surface from rusting for usually a year or two.
Now, any time one has to choose between the two it should depend on the usage of the roll containers. To be precise if you would be using the container as a warehouse cage trolley that will be used only indoors then cold galvanizing is a better option.
On the other hand, for bulky outdoor usage roller containers and nestable containers, it is preferred to go for hot-galvanized containers. This will keep the container protected from harsh temperatures and climatic conditions.
Hence, depending on the use of the container along with the time span for which you will need the container to make a decision.
So, now as you know the difference between the two and the way the process works making a decision would be easier. If still, you have any doubts about buying our metal products with the right galvanizing process you could always take the advice of your manufacturer.
The leading nestable roll container suppliers like HML Wires will always be happy to help.
So, get the perfect container and ensure that rusting never knocks the door of your warehouse. For any queries please feel free to reach us.
